Write for us
We welcome pitches that make a specific part of public policy easier to understand, from the framing of a problem to the choices involved in implementation and evaluation.
What makes a strong pitch
Send a short outline with a working title, the central question, the main points you would explain and why the subject will remain useful to readers. Strong proposals have a clear scope, define necessary terms and distinguish what is known from what is assumed or disputed.
A good fit for this desk
We are interested in original explainers, comparisons and background pieces about policy ideas, design, institutions, implementation or evaluation. Keep the focus on public understanding rather than personalised professional advice. Avoid presenting a single case or claim as proof of a universal result.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option to send your pitch. Include your name, a way to reply and any relevant interests or relationships connected to the subject. A proposal is not a promise of publication; please send an outline rather than a complete draft unless requested.
A policy is a choice in motion.
We look beyond the announcement to the goals, tools, institutions and feedback that give a policy its shape.
